About Me

People say I'm:
-
Describe Yourself:As is typical for a writer, I have tendency to droan on and on without a clear idea of where to stop BUT for this essay I am going to rein in my verbal stampede.
I am a man, NOT a homo or metro sexual. NOT even fashionable or chic, BUT also not the typical guy. I hate beer and don't drink at all, I don't like to watch sports. There isn't a competitive gene in my DNA code. I love to dance ( BUT health and fitness reasons hamper it at the moment ) I am HIGHLY sexual and affectionate and like to TRULY, deeply connect with friends, family and lovers.
I am a college educated nearly-single parent of an 8 yr old boy and a 42 year old woman ( my ex-wife-in-process ) and am battling to get my house repaired, packed up and sold so that my son and I can move to a new home and start a new life. BUT the Ex-Mrs.-in-Process tends to cause delaying and obstacles to this.
I am also in combat against my A.D.D. and O.C.D.
My new life would ideally include an acreage with a shop and outbuildings, a bigger and functional kitchen and a room dedicated to only writing and online pursuits. Also it needs to have PLENTY of storage space. It would be in my old high school, school district ( at least for now ) so that my son can attend a good but not overly LARGE school while living close to grandparents and cousins. .
IF there was space on this acreage I would love to dismantle and move then reassemble some old farm buildings on the property and eventually convert them to residential and sole commercial uses. ( for ex. a barn for a house and an oak drive through corn crib as a shop space )
This may be a pipe dream BUT ya have to have goals to strive for in life.
I will be adding to this essay as time passes, BUT for now that should start your journey to the guy that is me. -

Paula L., Oct 23, 2008, 10:04PM EDTThanks, Doug. You're right. It boils down to faith. However, I truly believe that if you delved into at study of the Bible--not just reading it--you would discover its accuracy and harmony. Oh well. I can't do much here except pray. It doesn't make sense to me that everyone can make up his/her own way to happiness/religion. I know there's a lot of false hope in the world. My guess is that your grandma prayed hard for you and that you will meet the Savior on the road to Damascus one day as Saul (now Paul) did. "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me." I have talked to Wiccans, too. I love talking about God with everyone of all religions. There's a lot of religious bondage out there. You seem to fall into the humanist way of thinking from what I know about you so far. Thanks for taking the time to write me. Enjoy your journey to the truth. The Truth will set you free.

Douglas Eden, Oct 21, 2008, 12:38AM EDTYeah, BUT Darwins realization is similar to Newtons realizations of gravity, the discovery of atoms, or the development of vaccines. all steps in man's advancement of scientific thinking.
AND for the biblical references to have credence requires that one first believes, there in lies the conundrum. Its a chicken or the egg thing, You cant use the bible as proof until the other person believes, BUT the other person prolly wont believe til they also accept the bible without proof.
BUT again, I respect and accept your views as yours.
I dont feel that I created my own religion, I just came to be honest with myself as to what I actually could believe and what I wasnt able to swallow.
I consider myself one of those " spiritual but not religious " people in that regard. I fear that whenever you place another human being in a position of " shepherd " he or she can lead you astray of where your center beliefs are along with the other sheep. ( Sheep being a bad thing to be, in my circle ) I have a best friend who is wiccan/shaman/hindu mix and she and I are always joking about how so many people fall into the herd and flock together wherever the crowd runs. BUT her and I are more like a wolf and a rhino ( guess which is which ? LOL LOL ) SHE runs in small packs and preys on the crowd mentality, while I plod around in the bushes,
alone and strong, while not being " like " the other critters. -
Paula L., Oct 20, 2008, 10:12PM EDTThanks so much, Doug. I agree--that this type of discourse is very healthy. I disagree. The Bible is highly intelligent and breathes harmony throughout. So captivating are the prophecies told of God's coming to earth in the form of a man. Zechariah the prophet predicted that Jesus would ride on a donkey and be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, etc., etc. I agree with you that there is evil. Satan offered the world to Jesus, as you recall. That means Satan is an influential force on earth until his time is over. During this time, he acts as an angel of light to deceive. What you do, creating your own religion, is outlined in the first chapter of Romans. I disagree that intelligent people can't accept the Bible as true. The father of science, Isaac Newton, was known to study the prophesies of the book of Daniel more than the stars. It takes more faith to believe that Darwin could solve the mysteries of the ages while in the jungle for three months--when men of God over hundreds of years wrote about the same Jesus. Jesus has come, not to start religions and religiosity. Jesus taught on the beaches and hung out in the pubs. Jesus is the example of true love and offers salvation.

Paula L., Oct 19, 2008, 4:18PM EDTThanks for your messages, Doug. Historical events that transpired are not fables. It takes way more faith to believe that every intricate thing on this earth is merely an accident and that there are millions of ways to get to the same place. This thinking defies logic. The powers of darkness work 24/7 to deceive and lead us away from God. The whole universe cries out for God and its maker. The checks and balances built into the universe are mind boggling. I respect your position. You believe in nothing.

Paula L., Oct 18, 2008, 10:14PM EDTHave you ever read any books by John Eldredge? Your soul longs for your Creator. I dare you to give God the chance to fill the deep longings of your soul.
